The Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026 concluded peacefully yesterday, recording a massive voter turnout across the state. The high polling percentage has triggered intense debate among political observers.
While some analysts view the surge in turnout as a sign of anti-incumbency against Chief Minister M.K. Stalin-led government, others believe it reflects strong support from youth and women voters, particularly for actor-turned-politician Vijay.
All eyes are now on Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which appears to have made a notable impact despite being a newcomer. Early trends suggest that while TVK may not secure a large number of seats, it has significantly influenced the vote share in key constituencies.
Reports indicate that Vijay performed relatively well in urban regions, including Chennai, where younger voters played a crucial role. His presence is believed to have cut into the vote banks of both the ruling DMK alliance and the opposition AIADMK alliance.
