Ajith starrer ‘Tegimpu was released yesterday. It took advantage of the first release of the Sankranthi festive season on the first day. However, the film suffered from poor reviews and negative word-of-mouth. With the arrival of Balakrishna’s powerful film ‘Veera Simha Reddy,’ it had no chance at the box office.
The film was pulled from many theatres on its second day. And no one showed up at the theatres where it was being shown.
Ajith does not have a large following in Andhra Pradesh or Telangana. He also doesn’t want to promote any of his dubbed films.
The dubbing rights to the film were purchased for Rs 3 crore. We’ll have to wait and see if they can recoup their investment over the next four days of Sankranthi festival period.
