Tharun Bhascker wants to move beyond comedy

Director-actor Tharun Bhascker, known for his signature humor-driven storytelling, has expressed his desire to step beyond the comedy genre and explore more intense drama.

From his debut film “Pelli Choopulu,” Tharun has built a reputation for blending humor with relatable narratives. His unique style, both as a writer and actor, has largely revolved around light-hearted storytelling with subtle wit.

Currently, he is promoting his upcoming film “Gaayapadda Simham,” in which he plays one of the lead roles. Alongside acting, he has also returned to direction and is working on “ENE 2,” the sequel to his cult hit Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi.

Speaking about his creative journey, Tharun revealed that films like Arjun Reddy and Dhurandhar inspired him to explore a different storytelling space beyond comedy.

He shared that he aims to make a full-fledged drama film in the coming years, signaling a potential shift in his filmmaking style.
