Vijay announces retirement after ‘Jana Nayagan’

Thalapathy Vijay has officially clarified it that he will not further act in films. He will completely shift his focus to politics after the completion of the shooting of his ongoing project, Jana Nayagan.

He announced this at his party’s meeting in Chennai the other day. Vijay’s announcement has put to rest the speculation about his future in films.

Vijay last year announced his own political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), and stated its intent to enter the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections.

“This will be my 69th and final film. I want to dedicate myself fully to politics and work toward the welfare of the people,” he said. He will not sign up for any new projects.

Vijay is aiming to become the chief minister of Tamil Nadu in 2031, if not 2026.
