Vijay’s Jana Nayakudu adds competition to Sankranthi period

Tamil superstar Vijay recently launched his own political party, which will contest the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections next year. Following this announcement, he confirmed his exit from films. His final film, Jana Nayakan, is currently under production.

Today, on the occasion of his birthday, the makers of “Jana Nayakan” released a song titled “First Roar,” featuring Vijay in a police avatar.

Directed by H. Vinoth, the film is reportedly inspired by Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Bhagavanth Kesari, with several changes and new additions. The film stars Pooja Hegde as the female lead, while Mamitha Baiju plays another key role.

The Telugu version, titled Jana Nayakudu, will also release simultaneously, officially entering the Sankranthi 2026 race. The film will arrive in theaters on Jan 9, 2026.The festival season is already packed with films starring Chiranjeevi, Ravi Teja, and Naveen Polishetty.
