Priya Prakash Varrier has moved to Supreme Court seeking to put stay on the criminal proceedings by Hyderabad police.
A group of young men in Hyderabad filed the case against her and her Malayalam film ‘Oru Adaar Love’ claiming that the lyrics of the film’s teaser song had hurt religious sentiment of Muslims. The actress says this song is popular folk song in Kerala.
“The song is a folk song and has been in existence for the last 40 years and cherished by the Muslim community of more than one crore in Kerala. People misunderstood the song in non-Malayalam-speaking states,” she said in the petition.
