Akhil Akkineni has been struggling to get his career back on track after the disastrous outcome of “Agent,” which released in April 2023. In the interim, he got married and also launched a new film titled “Lenin.” However, progress on the project has been slow.
Directed by Murali Kishor Abburu, who earlier helmed Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha, “Lenin” initially went on floors with Akhil and Sreeleela in the lead. But after a few days of shooting, Sreeleela walked out citing date clashes with her other commitments, forcing the project to hit a pause.
With the recent industry strike now called off, the team is planning to restart the film.
Buzz suggests that Bhagyashri Borse might replace Sreeleela, though no official confirmation has been made.
Even if production resumes soon with a new female lead, “Lenin” is unlikely to release before summer 2026, marking a three-year gap for Akhil since Agent. The film “Lenin” is being produced by Sithara Entertainments.
