Radhika Apte, one of the most acclaimed actresses in Indian cinema, has previously spoken about the uncomfortable and embarrassing situations she faced early in her career. In a recent interview while promoting her latest web drama “Saali Mohabbat,” the actor once again opened up about a troubling experience she had on a South Indian film set.
Radhika revealed that during the shooting of a South Indian film, she was asked to add extra padding to her body. Recalling the incident, she said the makers wanted additional padding for her breasts and hips, which made her extremely uncomfortable on set.
“I had a really difficult time on those sets. I remember one South film in particular… they wanted to add more padding on my bum and my breasts. They were like, ‘Amma, more padding,’” she shared. “I was like how much more padding you want,” she laughed.
While she chose not to name the film, Radhika Apte has appeared in Telugu films such as Legend and Lion, and Tamil films including Kabali, Vetri Selvan, All in All Azhagu Raja, and Dhoni.
The actor was also careful to clarify that her remarks were not meant to generalize the entire South Indian film industry.
“When I say South Indian cinema, I am not talking about it as a whole. They are making some incredible cinema across all industries. I am only referring to some of the films I worked on,” she explained.
