Box-office: Jersey and Kanchana perform well

Last weekend, we saw two films clashing with each other at box-office – ‘Jersey’, a classy movie and ‘Kanchana 3’, a popular franchise movie with strong mass appeal. Both the films took solid openings.

While Nani’s “Jersey” performed well in A class centers, “Kanchana 3” had terrific run in mass areas. Nani’s “Jersey” has collected about Rs 11 Cr in Telugu states and its total first weekend share worldwide is about Rs 15 Cr.

‘Jersey’ also set box-office on fire in USA. In its first weekend, the film has grossed about $900k (Rs 3 Cr share). ‘Jersey’ won great reviews but its slow pace and competition from ‘Kanchana 3’ have limited the movie’s collections a bit.

Raghava Lawrence’s ‘Kanchana 3’ took bumper openings in all major centers. Since the film has a brand value and it is very popular franchise, it took Rs 9.10 Cr in Telugu states in its first weekend.
