The Supreme Court of India recently directed Delhi authorities to move stray dogs to shelters, citing a surge in dog attacks and rising rabies cases. However, the order has sparked outrage among animal lovers, including several Bollywood celebrities.
Actress Janhvi Kapoor, known for her love of dogs, took to Instagram to voice her objection, calling the verdict “a death sentence to dogs.” She also shared a letter questioning the decision. The same letter was posted by many other actors and activists.
“Today it’s the dogs. Tomorrow who will it be?” the statement read.
While animal rights supporters backed her stance, sections of the general public reacted sharply. Critics argued that celebrities like Janhvi, who live in gated bungalows and commute by car, remain unaffected by the dangers of stray dog attacks — dangers that ordinary citizens face daily.
On the other hand, Janhvi Kapoor’s new Hindi film, Param Sundari, trailer also hit the internet today.
