Music director Gopi Sundar had a very good start in Tollywood a few years ago. He became pretty much a sought after name for those filmmakers looking for melodies for their rom-com entertainers.
After ‘Malli Malli Idi Rani Roju’, Gopi chose films in Telugu on the strength of the script. Maruthi’s ‘Bhale Bhale Magadivoy’, Vamshi Paidipally’s ‘Oopiri’, Virinchi Varma’s ‘Majnu’, Chandoo Mondeti’s ‘Premam’, and Siva Nirvana’s ‘Ninnu Kori’ had some of the nicest melodies in recent times.
‘Evare’ in ‘Premam’, ‘Unnattundi Gunde’ in ‘Ninnu Kori’ and ‘Jhaare Jhaare’ in ‘Majnu’ are some of his best songs. Even the likes of Devi Sri Prasad have not given such splendid melodies in recent years. But right scripts have not been coming his way of late.
He is now having to choose the wrong kind of projects. It all started with Sunil’s ‘2 Countries’, a disaster in every way. Just in the last few weeks, four of his albums have been flops: ‘Raju Gadu’, ‘Jamba Lakidi Pamba’, ‘Tej I Love You’, and ‘Pantham’. None of these movies shown his mark.
