India's official Oscar entry: Court

A Marathi movie, Court (2014), that won National Award for Best Feature Film last year, was announced as India’s official Oscar entry. The jury headed by Amol Palekar had seen 30 movies made in various Indian languages for this process in Hyderabad including our Telugu films Baahubali and Srimanthudu.

The jury unanimously selected Court as our Oscar entry, Amol Palekar told the reporters. He along with the jury members announced this at a press meet held at Film Chamber of Commerce in Hyderabad.

“We are extremely happy and feel proud to see more than one film that are worthy to represent our film industry at the Oscars next year. But finally we have to select the best one and we unanimously picked up Court, a movie that truly represents contemporary Indian cinema,” he added.
