‘Mangalavaaram’: Mask taken off to deliver a surprise

‘Mangalavaaram’ has been about keeping the cards close to the chest. We couldn’t make much about the characters from the movie’s trailer although we know the actors who played them. Payal Rajput, Ajay Ghosh, Sritej, Laxman Meesala, Shravan Reddy and Krishna Chaitanya. We knew every one of them but for the masked character.

On Tuesday, during the film’s success event, the identity of the actor was made public for the benefit of a section of the audience. It is Priyadarshi, who plays his career’s first suspenseful role in the Ajay Bhupathi-directed thriller.

Chief guest Vishwak Sen was more than pleased to do the actor reveal by taking off the mask amid cheers from the film’s team. “Priyadarshi is a rare actor who makes money as well as gets fame by picking rare roles,” he said.

Producers Swathi Reddy Gunupati and Suresh Varma of Mudhra Media Works said that their debut at the box office made them proud. An AV of female audience members praising the film’s boldness and integrity was played on the occasion. The film’s director appreciated the Telugu audience for their open-minded embrace of the film without judging Payal Rajput’s character. For those who don’t know, she played a woman with a hyper sexual disorder.
