Dr. LV Gangadhara Sastry, a renowned Bhagavad Gita singer and founder of the ‘Bhagavadgita Foundation’, has received India’s prestigious ‘Kendra Sangeet Natak Academy’ award for the year 2023.
Sri Gangadhara Sastry had already received the ‘Kalaratna’ award from the Andhra Pradesh government as well as an ‘Honorary Doctorate’ from ‘Maharshi Panini University’ in Madhya Pradesh for his outstanding contributions.
In the context of the award announcement, Gangadhara Sastry thanked the Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Mr. G. Kishan Reddy, for recognising his 16-year dedication to ‘Gita’, as well as the Chairman of Sangeet Natak Academy, Dr. Sandhya Purecha, Jury Members, and Telangana State cultural officials, among others.
He requested that the Government of India and the state governments recognize the Bhagavad Gita as the national scripture in order to appreciate the country’s abundance of knowledge, and that the Gita be included in the curriculum and taught to children from childhood in order to build human values.
