Nandamuri Balakrishna and Boyapati Srinu’s fourth collaboration, “Akhanda 2”, has already generated massive expectations. The first film in the franchise was a huge success, and this combination has delivered three blockbusters earlier. So, it’s no surprise that the overseas rights for this sequel were snapped up for a record price.
Moksha Movies, Cine Galaxy USA, and Sree Vaishnavi Entertainment are jointly releasing the film in overseas territories. Buzz is that the rights were sold for Rs 15 crore. This is the highest overseas deal in Balakrishna’s career.
In recent times, Balakrishna’s films have been performing well in North America, and the strong ‘Akhanda’ brand adds to the appeal. Though director Boyapati Srinu may not have as big a pull overseas as he does domestically, the project has still fetched an impressive amount.
For “Akhanda 2” to be considered a success overseas, it needs to gross over $2 million in North America. The film is set to premiere in the USA on December 4th.
