Madras High Court admonishes Superstar Vijay

Real heroes are those who pay their taxes and remit them promptly, said Madras High court. The court came down heavily on Tamil superstar Vijay who sought tax exemption for his Rolls Royce car.

Vijay imported a Rolls Royce car in 2012 from England and sought exemption of entry tax. Justice S.M. Subramaniam turned down his plea. He also used strong words against the superstar for trying to evade taxes. The court has also imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh.

The court said real heroes are those who pay taxes. Actors play roles that fight against corrupt practices in society. But in real life, they are evading tax, the judge observed.

This judgment comes as a huge setback to Vijay’s image. He is currently acting in ‘Beast’.
