One of the faithful biopics in the making is that of late YS Rajasekhar Reddy. It’s gearing up for a theatrical release on February 8 in both Telugu and Malayalam. Since Mammootty is the hero, Kerala release was always expected.
Surprisingly or not, the film is poor when it comes to generating pre-release buzz. A teaser and two songs are out and there is nothing home to write about the plain stuff on offer. Music by K is lackluster.
The makers have failed to create hype despite the fact that YSR enjoys great popularity in the Telugu States. Across regions, he enjoys goodwill even more than 10 years after his death. Probably, it has to do with the weak subject matter. Unlike ‘NTR’, which deals with a lot of events, ‘Yatra’ is an unexciting idea – a pada yatra.
Compare the lack of hype around ‘Yatra’ with ‘NTR’. ‘NTR: Mahanayakudu’ will release on Feb 7 and ‘Yatra’ comes on the 8th.
