Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 continues to dominate the record books with the biggest opening day ever for an Indian film in the domestic market. Released in December 2024, the film became the first to cross the Rs 200 crore mark in India on Day 1 (all languages combined) — a benchmark that remains untouched.
Even the much-hyped Dhurandhar 2 has fallen short of breaking this record. The film reportedly collected around Rs 180 crore in India on its opening day, along with approximately Rs 64 crore from overseas markets, taking its worldwide Day 1 total to about Rs 240 crore.
In comparison, “Pushpa 2” had set a massive benchmark not just domestically but also in terms of overall opening impact. The Allu Arjun starrer performed exceptionally well in North India, especially in its Hindi version, emerging as a sensational blockbuster.
Another key factor is the scale of release. While “Pushpa 2” was released in multiple languages, boosting its reach and collections, “Dhurandhar 2” was limited to its Hindi version and did not have releases in Telugu, Tamil, and other languages.
Meanwhile, Allu Arjun is currently busy with his next project, directed by Atlee, which is being shot in Mumbai.
