RGV has once again stirred a debate on social media, this time backing “Dhurandhar 2” over Yash’s much-hyped “Toxic.: Kannada superstar Yash redefined pan-Indian action cinema with the massive success of KGF and KGF 2, films that elevated him to superstar status across the country. He is now returning with another ambitious project, Toxic, whose teaser released on January 8 generated strong buzz and divided opinions.
When the Toxic teaser dropped, maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma was among its early admirers, openly praising director Geetu Mohandas and calling her the “real man” among Indian filmmakers.
However, with Toxic and Dhurandhar 2 heading for a box office clash on March 19, RGV has shifted his stance and is now placing his bet on “Dhurandhar 2.”
Directed by Aditya Dhar, “Dhurandhar 2” brings back Ranveer Singh as a brooding intelligence operative in a gritty, realistic espionage thriller. The film aims to expand its pan-India appeal following the success of the first part in 2025.
RGV fuelled further online discussion by stating that Dhurandhar 2’s grounded approach would trump what he described as the “heroic excess” of Toxic. He went on to predict that “Dhurandhar 2” would shatter records and unlock a new phase in the Indian cinema business.
